Once upon a time…

In a sleepy little village, Apold, in a faraway land Transylvania, four young children played hide and seek with their Oma.
The sun shone relentlessly and Oma tried to hurry the children along to fill their baskets with wild-flowers and elderflowers.
One hour later in Oma’s kitchen, at the wood burning stove, the four eager and excited children were busy helping to make elderflower soap, using an old family recipe that had been passed down through the female line of the family.  I was one of those children and it was my Oma that taught me how to connect with nature, along with the benefits of using only natural ingredients for anything that was going to be used on your skin.
In the summer of 2017, following a long absence, I returned to Transylvania and felt as though I had been transported back into the land of a Grimm’s fairy tale, for very little had changed since my last visit.
High on a hill overlooking the sleepy village of Apold, I was immersed in a sea of wild-flowers. Butterflies danced on a path and skimmed the tops of fragrant wild orchids, thyme and pale blue cornflowers.
My return had rekindled those happy childhood memories of making soap every summer.  So, there was only one thing left to do. I had to learn the craft of soap making, so that I would be able show my children the benefits of natural ingredients and hopefully the tradition will continue for generations to come.
We hope you will enjoy our homemade natural soap, made from the finest ingredients we could source, as much as we loved making it.
