Leaping into Summer…

‘It was June and the world smelled of roses

The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside’

June is my favourite month of the year; despite the fact it means I have to be a year older!  It’s the perfect time for tea in the garden too

I thought I’d give a little update on what’s been happening here at Apold’s HQ.  In May I enrolled on a perfume course.  I’ve always had a fascination and passion for fragrance, so to blend my own perfume was really exciting.  I’m now pleased to say I’ll be making all my own perfume at home.  One of my favourite fragrances is jasmine and my first bottle is a blend of clary sage, jasmine and sandalwood.  It smells so good and it’s very summery too.

You may have seen on instagram we will be trading at the three day Foodies Festival, at Tatton Park, on July 9th, 10th and 11th. Its our first event of the year, so we’ve been busy building up our stock.  Since Christmas we’ve been fairly busy with wholesale orders, but getting out and speaking to people will make a welcome change.

The following weekend will kick start a five-day event for us at the Harrogate Home & Gift Buyers Festival that has been carried forward from last summer when it was cancelled.  Harrogate is a beautiful place and we’ve booked an extra night at the hotel so we can have a little wander when it’s all over.

There are two candles I’d like to highlight here:

Sandalwood and Black Pepper that has an amazing hot and cold scent throw. You’ll find top notes of leather, tobacco, amber and musk, leading to heart notes of spicy black tea and pepper. Finally its base notes are teak wood, patchouli and sandalwood. This ‘Mandle’ makes a great gift for anyone, but especially the man in your life!

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of my favourite Shakespeare plays.  A couple of years ago we watched it in the walled garden of Arley Hall and Gardens.  It was such a magical performance, despite the chilly August evening!  This candle will transport you deep into a pine forest with delightful fragrances of bergamot, wildflowers, blackcurrant, lemon rind and balsam.  At the two-day Stockton Heath Festival in 2019, it sold out within hours and we were making fresh stock at 11pm on the Saturday evening.  This is the one to put you in the mood for summer………….which is almost upon us.

Enjoy your summer months and take some time to relax and connect with family, friends and nature!
